For the last quarter century, Eben has advised cabinet members and members of Congress, Fortune 500 companies and clients, political candidates and coalitions, on the most urgent energy, energy security, climate, and environmental issues and events of our time. As Managing Director at Signal, Eben leads our energy practice, helping companies and organizations navigate a volatile and vital period of increasing energy demand and public scrutiny.
Prior to joining Signal, Eben built the public affairs and communications function for an industry first-mover Fortune 500 energy company, guiding the company through rapid expansion and $50+ billion of infrastructure development, regulatory conflicts and congressional investigations, international trade and tariff battles, and geopolitical upheaval.
He was the top public affairs official for the Department of Energy and Secretary Ernie Moniz as a Senior Executive Service political appointee in President Obama’s second term, overseeing communications across a 100,000+ person agency and the National Labs on issues ranging from the Iran Nuclear Deal to the largest energy efficiency rules issued in US history. That followed nearly 10 years on Capitol Hill in both the House and Senate as communications and speechwriting staff for now Senator Ed Markey and several committees, including spearheading communications efforts on the Waxman-Markey climate bill, BP oil spill, and groundbreaking fuel economy standards.
Eben has also worked for environmental nonprofits and political and ballot campaigns in Delaware, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Missouri.
