CityLab’s Robert Bole Joins Signal Group as Digital Practice Leader

Robert Bole has joined the firm as managing director of Signal’s innovative digital practice.

WASHINGTON, DC – February 21, 2019— Signal Group, a leader in strategic communications, public affairs, and government relations, today announced that Robert Bole has joined the firm as managing director of Signal’s innovative digital practice.

Robert has worked at the confluence of media, business and government in leading digital media and communications sectors in the U.S. and around the world. He has helped lead digital business strategy at leading media companies, designed and developed digital products to engage audiences, and collaborated with senior leaders at Fortune 500 companies and at various U.S. foreign policy agencies on formulating and executing information campaigns.

Robert most recently served as the first General Manager of The Atlantic’s CityLab, a platform covering the biggest new ideas and pressing issues facing today’s global cities. Previously, he served as senior adviser and co-lead in the business strategy advancing The New York Times’ global expansion in addition to working with a number of media start-ups in the U.S. and Europe.

Robert was the first Director of Global Strategy for the Broadcasting Board of Governors (now the U.S. Agency for Global Media), a federal agency that oversees five regional media networks reaching an audience of over 270 million, and led innovation and digital media strategy for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. He also spent eight years developing and growing One Economy Corporation, a nonprofit that was at the time the largest organization in the world working on the digital divide.

Robert began his career in working with low-income communities to expand their housing and economic opportunities. He received a bachelor’s in Economics from George Washington University and a master’s in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
