Port of Seattle

The Port of Seattle is a special-purpose municipal corporation serving the citizens of King County; its mission is to create jobs across the state by advancing trade and commerce, promoting manufacturing and maritime growth, and stimulating economic development.

The Challenge

Help secure infrastructure funding to aid the Port of Seattle in modernizing and optimizing the usefulness of one of its most highly-trafficked port infrastructure assets.

The Solution

Working with the Port of Seattle in 2014, Signal supported the Port’s TIGER VI funding application to upgrade existing infrastructure at Terminal 46 and ensure the continued viability and usefulness of the terminal. Signal worked alongside the Port to scope the initial project to determine the best opportunities to maximize the competitiveness of the application to meet the larger goals of the program. We drafted a significant portion of the initial application, counseled the Port on modifications to drive a successful application, and led the congressional outreach process on behalf of the Port.

Signal helped secure $20 million in TIGER VI funding in FY 2014, continuing a record of government funding victories for the client. The updated Terminal 46 will drive economic opportunity and growth for the Port by expanding the ability of Terminal 46 to accept post-Panamax ships and generate economic gains through trade with Asia.
