Lytx (as in the last part of Analytics) is a global driver risk management company located in San Diego, California. They analyze driving and vehicle data provide video telematics that enable companies to have safer drivers and vehicle fleets.
Lytx needed an exemption from the Department of Transportation (DOT) every two years to deploy their technology in commercial motor vehicles. Having to reapply for this exemption created a business risk for the company.
We developed a Congressional and regulatory strategy, which focused on the value of the technology – particularly with regard to the safety and efficiency benefits. Signal was successful in obtaining a permanent exemption from DOT to enable continuous and widespread deployment of the technology. This rulemaking was the result of consistent engagement across the numerous agencies and on Capitol Hill. It involved both political and career staff within DOT.
The DOT revised its regulations and made permanent the ability of commercial motor vehicle operators to utilize Lytx’s technology across the country.
